A quick post

Hope you are all having a wonderful week.  Mine has been crazy and look forward to eventually having things calm down soon but so far there is no sign of that happening.  Tonight I get to go to a friends baby shower.  I am excited to have some time with friends.  I need it for sure. wanted to show you something I made very quickly yesterday.  I will have more things to post soon but it is a matter of getting my brain to work in the craft department of my head.I have 3 friends I try to visit every month.  They are all women that I am fortunate enough to go to church with and a couple of them I "work" with in primary.  They are great women.  With the summer here we are all busy and don't have a lot of time for extra things.It just so happens that my sister got some Amish Friendship bread starter and gave me some.  Sunday was the day for me to bake and seperate.  I had just enough time to seperate all the starters Sunday night but that was about it.  I did bake mine first thing Monday.

I decided I was going to give a starter to the ladies that I visit with every month.  Unfortunately one of the starters spilled all over my kitchen counter.  I did go ahead and give the starters to one friend and a neighbor I have not introduced myself to yet.I couldn't just had them a bag of starter so I decided to take a paper lunch bag and make a tag for it.  Just enough dress to make it nice but not overdone.

I started with Terracotta Tile paper and stamped with vintage cream ink using polka dot basics set.  I then used some vintage cream cardstock and sponged the edges with tea dye distress ink.  I stamped the star from everyday classics stamp set using melon berry ink and the sentiment is from round & round stamp set in black ink.

The ribbon is some I had in my stash.  I tied it with a cream button and terracotta tile dmc floss.  That is about it.  But I love how it turned out.Have a great rest of the week.Thanks for stopping by!!! 

Wyoming in may?

Hello everyone!!!  I have been getting to posting later in the day.  It will probably be like that since my no so little guy is graduating from kindergarten next week.  It isn't like I have early morning with him since he is in PM kindergarten but because I won't have anything pressing I think we might be a little lazier in the mornings. Today I am finally getting a scrapbook page done.  My husband has been bugging me for years about getting some scrapbooks done.  I think they are intimidating and with so much paper to cover I get nervous.  I am working on that though.  I realize that it is okay to have some white space on each page.  This one I created for the first offical pictures taken during our vacation to Wyoming.  It was taken in a very small town in Wyoming called Meeteetse.  Such a quaint town with an absolutely amazing chocolatier.  I will tell you this, next time we are that way we will definitely be stopping in again.  And when the weather cools down again and they start shipping I just might have to put in an order.

We stopped so I can visit the chocolatier and one last stop before we hit our destination, Cody, Wyoming.  We just happened to park right in front of this place that had some fun things set up.  They also had a wooden coffin but I thought that was a little morbid to be taking a picture of.The PP is from a pack I picked up my last visit to Joann's it is from K & Co. and unless I missed something I cannot find a name for the pack.Other than that I used PTI Hawaiian shores and kraft cardstock.  The cardboard letters I bought a long time ago from creative memories.  I inked that and the journal section with some Tim Holtz distress ink.  I love the look it gives with the pictures.  I also took the journal section and embossed some lines on it so I had something to go by when writing the things I chose to write on the page.I can't wait to get started on more and also start my little man's baby book, afterall, he is almost 4 months old already.Thanks for stopping by!!! 

A new card

*FYI: I actually typed up this post on Friday but didn't take a picture of the card until Sunday so that is why it is just now going live* Well, I made some time to play a little yesterday and no it doesn't use the latest PTI anniversary set.  I do recommend that if you didn't earn it to check out their forum.  There are several people selling them.I decided to make a card using the set "Through the trees"  I love that set.  I know a lot of people think of it as a masculine set but why not pretty it up a bit.  Well, in my case I kinda dirtied it up a bit but I love how it turned out.

 I started with Hawaiian Shores card stock and used some PP I had in my stash.  From there I took some more hawaiian shores and topped that with some kraft cardstock.  On the kraft I stamped the tree image in hawaiian shores ink and then added some birds with versamark.  To dingy up the edges I took my versamark ink pad and rubbed it along the edges and then took some Tim Holtz distress ink and just lightly rubbed it right along the edge being careful not to go passed the edge.The sentiment is from "Through the trees" as well.  I used the same technique as I did for the image.  For some extra layers I used some brads I had in my stash to attach the sentiment to the card.  That is about it for this one but am pleased with how it turned out since it has been so long since I have crafted much of anything.Have a great weekend everyone!!!Thanks for stopping by!!!

Birthday girl

Hello everyone!!!  I get to show you another birthday card.  This card is for a girl that lives down the street.  Sometimes she attends church with us and she just had a birthday so I thought it would be nice to send her a birthday card to let her know we miss her at church.

I saw this lovely card of Lisa Johnson's here and since I don't get to use a lot of pink and loved the color combo I went with it.  I used the color combo and the layout for this card.  It isn't the same but close and something I am really pleased with.

The materials used were all Papertrey Ink minue the Martha Stewart border and butterfly punch.  The colors are pure poppy and berry sorbet.  I also used white and kraft cardstock.  That is about it for today.

Demure

Hello everyone!!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was crazy and relaxing. Saturday we had a full day and it ended with a date night to see my niece play in "Annie". Her school was putting on the production and she played many parts but her main art was "Duffy" one of the orphans. When I saw her on stage I had to stop myself from crying. I was just so proud of her and all that she has accomplished in her 13 years. It just amazes me how time goes on and things change. I still think of her as a little girl no bigger than my boys' ages.

Sunday was a day of relaxing and enjoying the company of my family. Since we got home so late Saturday night it would have been to crazy to get up and go to Stake Conference. Where we have to go for Conference it is a 45+ minute drive instead of about 20-30 min drive to our church building.

Anyway, on to my card. I didn't know what I wanted to do to show everyone today. I have been working on something else but I am not finished so I wanted to do a card so I had some eye candy for all my 3 loyal fans hehehe.

I figured I would use a new stamp that I got when I ordered my mom's mother's day stamp. There was an accident that caused me to get a different stamp than what I ordered but they were the same price and the company hasn't contacted me yet saying they wanted me to send it back so I inked it up. She is beautiful and the stamp is called "Demure".

Now, since I was at a loss for what to make besised the stamp I used I went in search for a sketch to use and make things as easy as possible for me. I remember CPS (Card Positioning Systems) and went to work on the awesome stamp. Their sponsor this week is Stamping Bella.

I also got to do some shopping at Michael's and I just happened upon some paper that is so me. I didn't hesitate to get it and I usual hesitate for everything. Now, I am can't be sure where the aper is from. It just says ancestry.com and it is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I want to also mention. While I was looking around for a sketch to use I came across copic challenge blog and the challenge was to color blonde hair. Since I was planning on using "Demure" anyway I decided to just color her hair blonde. I love it.

Simple post/Simple card

Hello everyone!!! I don't have much to say. It is a heck of a week and I woke up thinking it should be Friday. But then my brain woke up some and realized it is only Wednesday. I need the weekend as much as I need the sun. Thank goodness we have a beautiful day today. The sun is shining and the wind is barely blowing. In the desert, that is about all you can ask for. And trust me, I am so grateful for it. My oldest has t-ball practice tonight and then from there we head to church for cub scouts (my hubby is a den leader) and I have a meeting with the new primary presidency. I am excited to be able to work with the wonderful ladies we have now. But I am going to miss the other wonderful ladies I was working with :)

Today I have a card I made within minutes. I put the boys to bed and wanted to put something together but didn't know what. This one kinda just made itself. I love those. It is missing a sentiment that I will put above the bow. I just don't know what sentiment to use yet.

Almost all PTI for a non-PTI challenge

Happy day to you all!!! Thank you for the well wishes. My youngest is doing much better and just about over his sickies. My oldest is still in the mist of it but I think he is headed for recovery as well. He still has a bad cough but he is getting medicine and with the sleep I am making him get he should be done by the end of the week *crossing my fingers*.

My headache finally died away last night so that was nice as well. The only weird thing is that after my headache was easing up I got a bad case of the quesies. My headaches make me feel sick to my stomach but it seemed to get worse after my headache started to go away. That is very strange. I woke up still feeling a little sick to my stomach. I guess I will take some more pepto and hope it goes away.

I was able to get in some crafting last night though. It felt good to get back to my work but it was hard to get started. My sister directed me to a challenge blog "Caardvarks" that was offering some goodies from Taylored Expressions. A new stamp set called "Whimsical Wishes".

The challenge the posed was to make a project using a tree. I was excited because I have not yet got to experience any of Taylor's stamps. Plus, I have a tree stamp from PTI that I have inked up but has been neglected lately.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do but I did know I wanted to use my new cardstock from PTI and the new ink pad that I got in my last order as well.

I am happy with how it turned out but in my opinion it is obvious that my mojo needs a little help.

My goodness!!! I was doing some blog surfing and found this cool blog challenge called "365 cards" It looks awesome and I look forward to doing more with them. Their challenge is to use a leaf on a project. Well, since I made this tree card for "Caardvarks" that has leaves on it I had to enter it into that challenge as well. Go check them out here. Papertrey Ink First Blog Hop entry

Happy Weekend!!! Wooohooo!!! I am a little out of sorts today. My brain is having a hard time grasping the fact that I am blogging and it is Saturday. I am excited though. I love blogging and I love the things you learn and find out in the blogging world. I am so happy to be a part of it.

Anyway, I don't blog on the weekends because that is my family time but this time I am making an exception. Today is the 25th of the month which means that it is time for Papertrey Inks monthly blog hop. Every month Papertrey issues a challenge for anyone with a blog who wants to participate. You add your name to the list and post your challenge on your board. Every month this is tons of fun and prizes to be had.
The challenge for this month is to make ANYTHING with any of Lauren's templates. They do have two you can buy for free so there really is no excuses.

















So when I heard what the challenge is I had to figure out what I was going to do. I have EVERY one of Lauren's templates and have used almost every single one of them as well.
I figured since I heard about this challenge after this month's PTI stamp release I would use one of the new templates they just released as well.

I used "From the Desk of" to hold my list of families birthday's. I think it works great for that. In the front is the 12 months with a space to write everyone's birthday on and in the back is a few cards and envelopes that I can just grab, write a short note on and then get them out in the mail quickly.
I am so pleased with what I did. I wanted something that worked for me but a little different too. I am trying to go outside of my comfort zone with colors and patterns. I am glad I did. I think it turned out beautifully.

I wanted to point out too, after I finished putting it all together I though of something. If I were to do this again I would do it before it is all together so it looks neater. I cut another small piece of ribbon and glued it into the front part of the file. This now holds my pen in place so I always have one close.

Birthday Keeper

Happy Friday everyone!!! I tell you, I need it to be Friday. It has been one heck of a week, but then again, when are they not when you have kids, right?

The good thing going on around here is the weather. It is awesome. We had some hot days there in the beginning of the week but now it is cool, there is a breeze and the birds are chirping. We might go and get a hummingbird feeder because my hubby has seen several hummingbirds around the house. I also noticed that a LOT of our neighbors also have hummingbird feeders in their yards. We already have a bird feeder but it would be neat to also more welcome the hummingbirds into our yard.

Tonight is my oldest son's second T-ball game. I am so proud of him. He is LOVING playing baseball. In fact, he loves it so much that he doesn't want any of his teammates to get the ball. I don't know how many times we had to tell him to allow his teammates to get the ball and to stop fighting over it. Wednesday night he had practice again and his coaches had to tell him to stop fighting over the ball. Of course, he is also a social butterfly and didn't stay one place out on the field during practice. I had to watch my youngest at the same time so if my eyes left the field by the time I got back he was in a different position.

Oh, not only do we have a lot of birds around our house we also have a TON of ladybugs. They are all over our yard and while oldest was practicing my youngest was catching butterflies. He was doing so well and then I heard him stopping on the cement. Yep, he killed the poor thing. I guess it is just too tempting for a boy.

So would you all like to see my project for today now? Hehehe I actually have a teaser. What I am showing you today is a tease for the project that I have made for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop that will be starting Saturday night. This will be the first time I participate. I certainly encourage you to participate if you can. The challenge is to use one of Lauren's templates, easy peasy, right?

My family is a decent size family. With us kids getting older and having kids of our own it is getting more and more difficult to remember everyone's birthdays (it doesn't help that I am getting older hehehe). A while back Nichole from Papertrey Ink challenge the design team to come up with a good way to keep track of everyone's birthdays.

With this blog hop coming up I decided that now is a good time to get something together that works for me. So that is exactly what I did. I am pleased with it but not ecstatic. It will work though and that is what I am happy about.
