Masks

Happy Friday everyone!!!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned.  We are not sure what is going to happen for us this weekend.  We should know by end of the day if we can even start making plans.  I think that is going to be the norm for us while here.

I wanted to share this picture with you and show off my crafty boys.  I had a meeting to attend yesterday morning and since my husband had the day off my 2 little guys stayed home with daddy (big man was at school).  While I was gone my middle man decided to have some crafty fun with my supplies.  One of the things he got a hold of was my stickles.  I have forgotten about them so I guess it wasn't a big deal (at least they were getting used.)  Unfortunately during his craft time he got stickles on the floor or kitchen cabinet.

Later in the afternoon my husband decided to put some locks on the kitchen cabinets since little man has been throwing things around.  Needless to say some of the glittery stickles got on my husbands drill cord and the cool thing, it is my favorite color.

What you don't see in this picture is that after it was taken my middle man grew tired of holding the drill and dropped it.  The drill bit, that was still in the drill, landed first and broke.  Now I owe the hubby some new drill bits  :(

The card I am sharing with you today is one I used trying to channel Dawn McVey.  Her style always inspires me and wants me to try to be better.  I saw a post of hers explaining how she is always able to make beautiful cards.  She said something that made sense but at the same time was like a "duh" moment.  "When things aren't going just right just take it apart because it is only paper." (not a word for word quote).  Cards are only paper...duh, I knew that but I didn't understand it.

Why do I share this, because I wanted to make a thank you card, I wanted to use the new PTI Make it Monday challenge.  The challenge is masking.

I used a Martha Stewart border punch at my mask and sponged using plum pudding ink.  The border is spring rain cardstock.  The flower is prima and the button is PTI.

The sentiment border was stamped using a WaltzingMouse Label 4 stamp with versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment itself is stamped using 2 wplus9 stamps in black.  The fun stuff in the middle was first drawn on with a white gel pen and the circles were stamped with PTI polka dot basics stamps in fresh snow.  I also added a bit of fun with a scrappy cat stamp on each corner and ran over it with a glitter pen.

I am so happy with it I am glad I took Dawn's advice and took apart what I didn't like and started over instead of just finishing just because I had already started something.

Birthday cards

It has always been that when September hits the birthdays begin.  My younger sister's birthday is in Sept., my younger brother is Oct., my dad's birthday is mid-Nov., my older sister and I are in Dec., my older brother's birthday is January and my mom is Feb.Add just some of the extended families birthdays and I have a brother-in-law in Oct, my mother-in-law in Oct., my husband and son's birthdays in Nov. my middle son in Dec., my youngest in Feb., my niece and another brother in law in March.If you add all that up that equals a TON of birthdays really close together.Since I desperately wanted to make a birthday gift for my son's teacher that adds just one more birthday to the mix but I enjoyed doing it.So today is the teacher birthday card.I started again with rustic cream cardstock (do I have to tell you how much I LOVE that cardstock?)

The PP is from K & Co. which I absolutely love.  Although it is vintage and flowery I think can work very well for boys scrapbook pages as well.I stamped the bottom (Pure Poppy) cardstock with polka dot basics (PTI) in versamark ink and punched with a Martha Stewart punch.The main image was stamped with the latest PTI anniversary set.  I love how the image came out kinda blotchy.  I didn't do it on purpose but I love how it worked because it gave a very vintage feel to the whole card.Thanks for stopping by!!! 

Anniversaries

Hello everyone!!!  I am trying to keep up with everything but it has been difficult.  Monday was my nieces birthday and I have yet to make her a card and get her a present.  Today is a special day as well.  Today is the day (32 years ago) that my parents said their vows in front of friends and family and God.  I am so proud to say that my parents are still married after all these years.  Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!!  Now if you don't want to see your card then I would suggest leaving the blog for a few days as it just got out in the mail.Yep, another thing I am late on.  I got their card made yesterday.  I have to admit too, I did not come up with this concept.  I basically stole the layout from Lorie from Live-Love-Laugh-Create.  Lorie got her basic layout from the CPS challenge for this week which is being sponsored by Flower Soft. The card base is 4 X 8 1/2 made from rustic cream cardstock.  I used ocean tides ink and sponged around the entire edge.  Then used ocean tides cardstock cut at 4 X 3 1/2 stamped using Tim Holtz tea dye distress ink and PTI background basics: hearts.  Now, I have to tell you.  I finally bought the PTI background basics: text style stamp that I have been wanting since it came out and planned on using it right away.  Since I was making an anniversary card though, I thought the love sentiment on the hearts set made more sense.  The hearts from the same set were stamped using vintage cream ink.  The ribbon, button and twine are some I had in my stash.  Then I used Martha Stewarts border bunch with dark chocolate cardstock for the bottom.  The sentiment was made with kraft cardstock and stamped with the newest PTI anniversary set, round and round with fresh snow ink and colorbox chalk dark chocolate ink.Well, I think that about does it.  I hope my parents love it as much as I love how it turned out.  I also hope they are able to enjoy a wonderful night or day out for their anniversary.I love you Mom and Dad, here is to another 32 years of wedded bliss!!!Thanks for stopping by!!! 

Wplus9 Challenge

Hello everyone!!!  Thank you for th sweet comments left yesterday.  I still haven't fully digested the fact that she is gone.  I keep looking in my backyard for her.  We have decided to get her cremated and keep her ashes.  We got her when we lived in Alaska and want to bring her ashes back to Alaska where we will then disperse them.  I hope that is what she would want.  She loved the snow and we had to fight her to come in when there were several inches on the ground. Today I am finally going to get the card posted that I should have posted last week.  I am sure it is late to do anything about it but it is a color challenge for a new up and coming stamp company called Wplus9.  I have seen some of their stamps and so want to get my hands on them.  They are also looking for a 3 month design team member.  Instructions to apply are on their website here.

Sorry the picture is so crappy.  It seems that my laptop has yet again decided it doesn't want to work and my photoshop program is on my laptop since that is what I mainly use.  If we can't get the laptop figured out then I will be moving my photoshop program to the desktop so you can yet again have beautiful pictures.Thanks for stopping by!!!

Birthday girl

Hello everyone!!!  I get to show you another birthday card.  This card is for a girl that lives down the street.  Sometimes she attends church with us and she just had a birthday so I thought it would be nice to send her a birthday card to let her know we miss her at church.

I saw this lovely card of Lisa Johnson's here and since I don't get to use a lot of pink and loved the color combo I went with it.  I used the color combo and the layout for this card.  It isn't the same but close and something I am really pleased with.

The materials used were all Papertrey Ink minue the Martha Stewart border and butterfly punch.  The colors are pure poppy and berry sorbet.  I also used white and kraft cardstock.  That is about it for today.

Inspiration

Hello everyone!!!  I hope you are still around.  I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted something here.  I feel terrible about it.  I have just been so busy with appointments and such.  We have more appointments again this week but not as many, so far.Today I am going to share a card with you I made thanks to my mom.  We decided to take a trip to Big Bear City for the day on Saturday.  My parents came along for the company.  There was a store that that had a bunch of "cowboy" stuff.  I found an adorable outfit I put together.  My mom saw the outfit, loved it but said that it was Terricotta tile and dark cholocate, PTI colors.  Since then I have thought about a card that would be awesome to recreate that "outfit" using those colors.  This is what I came up with.  Thanks mom!!!

It isn't all PTI, the cardstock is though.  I used terracotta tile and vintage cream like DMC floss, a chole's closet flower I had in my stash, as well as a button.The stamps I used were PTI Backround basics: hearts, Waltzing Mouse Labels 4, scrappby cat, and martha stewart stamps.  The ink is colorbox dark brown and PTI vintage cream.  The punch is a fiskars.I am so happy with it.  One card down more to go.Thanks for stopping by!!!

Seeing double

Happy Thursday everyone!!!  I hope you are all having a wonderfully productive week.  I guess I am still learning a few things about having 2 rambunctious boys and a newborn.  It seems I have a LOT to learn still.  Hopefully it comes to me soon.  Otherwise I am nto sure what I am going to do  :)Today I am showing you a couple of thank you cards I came up with.  While laying down trying to come up with a layout for thank you cards I came up with something like this.  I just added a few more elements that I love.  I am so pleased with these.

The cardstock is PTI stone, spring moss, and aqua mist.  The patterned paper is called linen closet, I think, but I can't remember the brand.  My sister and I shared a 12X12 pack we found at a Joann's.The ribbon I had in my stash and the butterfly was punched using a Martha Stewart punch.  The filagree is from PTI's Silent Night stamp set.  Then I just used stickles in gold and blue.  So simple and lovely.  Oh yeah, and the border punch is also from Marth Stewart, possibly my favorite border stamp I own, which really isn't saying much.Thanks for stopping by!!!

Greeting Farm Digi

Hello everyone!!!  It is another week.  I am still here, no baby.  I thought I was going to get lucky last night because after church I was having some good contractions.  Not strong enough to make me think we need to get to the hospital right away but strong and painful.  But nope, after about 3 or so hours they had stopped.  Then a few more and then stopped.  I woke up with some more but those were meaningless.  Tomorrow is my last doctor's appointment.  I am hoping the exam can help get things going or I will be far enough along that he just decides to send me to the hospital instead of going home.  I know Friday I will have the baby in my arms one way or the other but I am getting so uncomfortable that I just want it over.

Anyway, you came here for a card not my woes.  So here it is.  This is a greeting farm digi-image.  They are doing a CHA digi-image relay.  This is Mer-Ian if you are able to create a card with him before 6pm central time and upload it to their gallery (which they are having issues with so I hope they fix it so I can upload this card in time) they will email you another image.  You will have until tomorrow at 6pm central to make something with that image, upload it to the gallery and be emailed another digi-image, so on and so forth until Friday.  If you have completed all 5 projects than you get a 6th one also.  Now, I know I will not be able to complete all 5 since at least Friday I will be in the hospital getting ready to meet my new baby but it is fun to get the ones I can get.  Plus, I needed some more play time.

I do have another non-paper project I want to share with you but that will wait.  It is a Valentine's Day project that I absolutely love how it turned out.  I might wait until next week to show you that since I hope to have some more Greeting Farm projects to show you.

Another birthday

So I guess the birthdays in my family are not over.  Especially since I will be adding one soon.  Because of some things with this pregnancy I will either be having a c-section or an induction on the 29th of this month.  Barring the fact I do not go into labor before then.  So in about a week in a half at the most I will be holding my precious baby in my arms.  If the baby refuses to come before them I am praying for an induction because I know that will be easier to recover from than a c-section and I do NOT like being couped up in my house.

So I am a little late but I do have my brother's birthday this Saturday.  Unfortunately I have to mail it so it will more than likely be late but I hope he will forgive me for that one  :)  Afterall, his wife's birthday card was several weeks late.

This card I tried to do the simple elegant look.  I was inspired once again by Kelly Lunceford and also Geny Cassady.  They do the simple elegant absolutely beautiful.  Here is my attempt at simple but beautiful, well, manly for this card.

I started with PTI cardstock Enchanted Evening and topped it with kraft cardstock.  Then just punched a few circles and layered them.  On one of Kelly's cards she put a flower on the smaller circle but considering this card is for my brother I used a button.  This is simply done but I am very excited about it and hope he likes it too.

Gift card

Hello everyone!!!  Can you believe we are only a couple days away from Christmas.  My mother-in-law will be here before you know it.  Too bad we are not as prepared for her arrival as we had hoped.  There were a few glitches in our day yesterday but I think they are resolved and we are ready to prepare for the holidays.  Not to mention I still need to get a couple of things for my youngest son's birthday.  He will be 4 on the 30th but since my mother-in-law won't be here on the 30th we are celebrating his birthday on the 27th after church.  That doesn't leave me much time to do some shopping and I really do not want to fight the last minute Christmas shoppers.

Today I want to show you a gift card holder I made using one of Lauren's templates.  Her templates really are easy to use.  Maybe a bit confusing the first time but after that they make complete sense and are so easy to duplicate.  I am going to leave you with few words because honestly, I am at a loss for them.  Besides, it may look like a lot of detail on this but there really isn't.

Together Forever

Hello everyone!!! I hope your day has started out just wonderfully. I am sorry I am running a little late today. It seems that the "morning" sickness/total exhaustion lasts all day, minus a few hours in the late afternoon. I wanted to get my sister and her husbands anniversary card last night. Actually I wanted it done last week but with everything going on and just not feeling like myself it has been put off. Sorry Carrie and Lee. Their anniversary was the 16th of this month and I finally got their card done. I am so excited too because I just received my newest Papertrey Ink goodies. I got a bunch of paper I was running out of and Lisa Johnson's new set called "Heavenly Medley" I love it.

So I started out with some new paper from Papertrey Ink. I used a new punch I got this passed weekend as well from Martha Stewart. It really isn't my typical card but I love how it turned out and I hope they do as well too. My sister's favorite color is green so I wanted to make sure and incorporate that into the card.

I am going to make this short and sweet because I have company coming over this morning and I need to make sure I am presentable when they get here. Along with my house. My boys have been on a rampage lately and since I haven't felt like running after them they have gotten into a lot of stuff.
