8X11 Box

Hello everyone!!!  I hope you had a great weekend.  This week is going to be pretty crazy for me.  I sure hope that makes the week go by fast.  I do plan on going to the movies on Wednesday though.  The plan is to go down and get a haircut and see "Eclipse" with my mom and my niece.  I am actually looking forward to it.
So today I am finally able to show you a box I had made a while back.  I wanted a box to put the Amish bread starter in.  I thought that I would try my hand at making my own box.  I just wanted to use one sheet of cardstock and all my templates use two.  So, I set out to make one.  I did, however, it was too small to fit the starter in.
I figured I would continue to make it though, decorate and use it for something else.  I stayed the night at my sisters house Friday night and went to a performance for my niece on Saturday.  As a thank you for putting myself and 3 sons up for a night I left the box for my sister.
I started with some kraft cardstock.  Stamped the background image using Wplus9 background stamp using tim holtz distress ink.
The medallion was made using spring moss cardstock cut out using a nestability and stamped with another background stamp and then embossed with kaleidoscope embossing powder.  I then used a Waltzing Mouse stamp, stamped on terracotta tile cardstock and then cut out by hand because I do not have the nestability to match.  The butterfly was a sticker I bought from Michael's.
I am very pleased with how this turned out and might have to make more.

Pretty Purple birthday

*disclaimer:  I am using an old laptop and some of the buttons don't work so if I am missing a letter or a space,  I am sorry.*
Happy Thursday everyone!!!  I am actually quite surprised at how quickly the last couple of weeks have been flying by.  It seems crazy to be saying it is already Thursday.   I couldn't be more happy about it.
Today I am finally showing you a card I have been wanting to make for a couple of weeks now.
My husbands former co-worker had a birthday on the 14th.  She was out of town so I didn't get to give it to her on her birthday like I had planned.  I then planned on giving it to her on Wednesday but she didn't get back until this past Monday.  I finally got it made yesterday and plan on dropping it off to her at work today.

My lack of mojo has been affecting me lately.  Well, maybe not mojo just my desire to be in the craftroom.  I hope to have a craft day with my mom and sister soon so we will see if that helps.
I found out that the birthday girl loves dark purple.  A girl after my own heart, I love purple, any shade really.
I took the basic layout from Geny Cassidy, I hope she doesn't mind.  I really hope this card isn't too girly for her either.
I started with a plum pudding cardbase.  I stamped my first Wplus9 stamp on the bottom of the base, Design Basics: Background I, in spring moss.
The main image was stamped with inkadinkado stamp set from joann's an stamped in plum pudding ink.  The sentiment is from the same set and stampd in black.  I used the spring moss ink and a sponge to sponge around the image and used different brads from my stash in the corners.  I felt like it was still missing something so I remembered some flowers I got from my sister for my birthday so I pulled them out and added a bridal flower colored with a copic marker.  The basic image was popped up using pop dots.
I wanted to add mre but I usually add too much so I left it as that.  Besides, I didn't want to overdo it.  I was afraid of going over the top girly and the recipient not liking it.
That is it for today.  I hope to have some craft time this weekend so I hope I have more to share next week.  I am so behind on cards it is pitiful.

Father's Day

I hope everyone's Father's Day was a wonderful celelbration of Father's.  We had a quiet subdued Father's Day here.  First we were off to church where my boys were able to make tie cookies for their Dad.  Unfortunately my husband was not able to spend Father's Day with us so he will not be able to taste those cookies.  Although I am not sure if he would have anyway with all the sugar and candy that was in each cookie.
After church we drove to my sisters house where she made dinner for my family, her family and my parents.  It was nice to be able spend Father's Day with my Dad especially since my husband wasn't here to celebrate with us.
We did put Skype on our computers so the boys did get to see their dad and wish him a Happy Father's Day.  I did want to share a picture that I took for my hubby's Father's Day present.  I cannot take credit for the idea because I saw it on a gift bag but I just love it and hope that he does too.

I did, however, get to make a card for my Dad.  I started with some Simply Chartruese cardstock and used some PP that I had in my stash.  I used some enchanted evening cardstock as an accent with some more PP on top of that.  I used one of my spellbinders dies to make the main image with Hawaiian shores cardstock and cream.
The stamps used were PTI father knows best and through the trees.  The ribbon is from some $1 ribbon at Michael's that I had just bought.  And then I used some stickles for some accents.
That is about it but I am pleased with how it turned out.  I have had a layout similar to this one in my head for quite a while.
Oh yeah, and here are some cards my boys made for their Dad at a Michael's make and take that I forgot about but got there in time to see the sign and for the boys to make them.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

A quick post

Hope you are all having a wonderful week.  Mine has been crazy and look forward to eventually having things calm down soon but so far there is no sign of that happening.  Tonight I get to go to a friends baby shower.  I am excited to have some time with friends.  I need it for sure.
wanted to show you something I made very quickly yesterday.  I will have more things to post soon but it is a matter of getting my brain to work in the craft department of my head.
I have 3 friends I try to visit every month.  They are all women that I am fortunate enough to go to church with and a couple of them I "work" with in primary.  They are great women.  With the summer here we are all busy and don't have a lot of time for extra things.
It just so happens that my sister got some Amish Friendship bread starter and gave me some.  Sunday was the day for me to bake and seperate.  I had just enough time to seperate all the starters Sunday night but that was about it.  I did bake mine first thing Monday.
I decided I was going to give a starter to the ladies that I visit with every month.  Unfortunately one of the starters spilled all over my kitchen counter.  I did go ahead and give the starters to one friend and a neighbor I have not introduced myself to yet.
I couldn't just had them a bag of starter so I decided to take a paper lunch bag and make a tag for it.  Just enough dress to make it nice but not overdone.
I started with Terracotta Tile paper and stamped with vintage cream ink using polka dot basics set.  I then used some vintage cream cardstock and sponged the edges with tea dye distress ink.  I stamped the star from everyday classics stamp set using melon berry ink and the sentiment is from round & round stamp set in black ink.
The ribbon is some I had in my stash.  I tied it with a cream button and terracotta tile dmc floss.  That is about it.  But I love how it turned out.
Have a great rest of the week.

Embellish's Friday Sketch

The title doesn't completely make sense but I combined two challenges into one.  The first one is Embellish magazines color challenge.  The challenge is to use brown, yellow and coral.
I chose to add in kraft with that to kinda ground all the colors together.  The other colors are PTI dark chocolate, lemon tart and berry sorbet.

The Embellish Magazine Color Challenge is running until June 17th and you must also use a tag in your creation.
Here is what I came up with for the colors.

I also saw Amy R's Friday Sketch and though it would be fun to combine it with this one.  It sure helped me get the card done a lot faster when I had the colors and the sketch already done for me.  I hope I did them both justice.

The card base is kraft, as I said earlier.  I used a mat of berry sorbet and then took some lemon tart and dark chocolate.  Both the lemon and chocolate cardstock were stamped using versamark and polka dot basics stamp.  The ribbon is PTI berry sorbet as is the button in the center.  I used the flower beause I just happened to see it on my desk when deciding what to do for the center.  The kraft cardstock was stamped with my one and only Waltzingmouse stamps right now, I hope to get more.  I stamped it in dark chocolate ink.  Okay, the last thing, I think, is the sentiment.  It was stamped using berry sorbet ink on kraft cardstock. I like using this sentiment because I do not have a use for this card yet.  By using this sentiment there are many ways I can give this card to someone.
I hope you have a great Thursday.

The other half

Happy Wednesday everyone!!!  Last night was so nice and calm actually.  I finally gave in to my boys and let them play in the new plastic cheap-o pool we got them over the weekend and then it was on to the slip n slide.  My middle man has been begging to go on the slip n slide since January probably.  I was a little skeptical if he would actually play because he didn't like it last year.  I gotta tell you though, a year makes a huge difference.  Both of the older boys played on that thing for about 45 minutes.  They certainly wore themselves out.
My little man, on the other hand, absolutely hates the pool.  I think it was more of the water being on the cold side than the actual water.  I am hoping that is the case anyway, I don't want any of my boys afraid of the water.
This is the other half to the page I showed you yesterday.  Again, not sure of the 12 x 12 sheet.  I just had it in my stash.  I am glad I didn't cut these down when I was doing my PP earlier.  I think all the elements I used on this sheet are the same I used on the other one.  I just love how it turned out.  Of course, when you have a cutie like him on the page it definitely makes the page.

3 months

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!  This week I am actuallly praying goes by really, really slow.  I will explain why in the future.  I am a little uneasy about sharing some info here online.  Since it is not private anyone can access it and there are some things I don't want everyone in the world knowing.
Anyway, after making the scrapbook page the other week I made a committment to myself that I would do one scrapbook page a week.  I promise you I had this page done in the one week period but didn't get it photographed in time and then I had a migraine and ...
This is my baby at 3 months old.  He is now 4 months old.  My, how the time is going by.  I hate it.  It seems like I am trying to hold on to every minute of his life and yet I cannot hold on tight enough to stop time for just a bit.
I started with some 12x12 paper that I had in my stash.  I am not even sure where it came from.  From there I cut strips of PP from Marcella K, I got it at Target a long time ago.  I covered the seams with some ribbon that I thought matched pretty nicely.  The stickers are some I got in the mail.  I love the small details I used from a creative memories dvd I checked out.
On the brown strip I plan on doing the journaling.  I do have another part to this layout so I am waiting for the journaling until I finish the other half of this layout.  I hope to have that done later today.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Sad day...

Today is a sad day for me.  I am sure to shed some tears.  I cannot believe it is here already.  Today is the day that my oldest son becomes an big boy.  No longer is he a kindergartner but he will be in 1st grade.  When did this happen?  Really?  Everyday I look at him and he does something so sweet and shows me he is getting older.  Of course we are still struggling with discipline but that will take some time I am sure.

We will be attending a kindergarten program since they do not have graduations here.  My son has already told me that they are singing songs and that I will cry.  I am sure I will.

I wanted to do something nice for his teacher but with a small budget.  I already showed you the spa-like gift I did for her but it just didnt feel like enough, especially with all the things she has done for my son and all the other kids in her class.
I got her a candle and decided to take an idea on saw on a blog and twist it to my capabilities.  I am not sure of the blog I got it from but I will search later and link to it.

My sister was kind enough to let me have a small mason jar and use some etching cream to etch an apple in the mason jar.  I then took some pebbles I got from Michael's a long time ago, put them in a plastic cup and used my simply chartruese reinker.  I just put about 5 drops in the cup and mixed it all up until all the pebbles were pretty coated.  I poured them out on a napkin and let them dry overnight.  Then I just put them in the mason jar and then stuck the candle in as well.

The tag was pretty simple.  I don't have much more time, I need to get breakfast and such before I need to run off again for the program.  I will try to add more to this post later.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Teacher gift

Good Wednesday everyone!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.  We had a jammed packed weekend that was just wonderful but of course, it went by way too fast.  We started off with a family BBQ with my parents and sisters family, we also invited friends from church.  I think it went off without a hitch.  Sunday was church and then Monday we headed to where my parents lived for a nice picnic in the park and then some fishing.  Unfortunately is was very windy and the fish weren't biting.  It was probably a good thing anyway because we saw several dead fish floating around in the lake and one or two laying in the dirt around it.
Today I wanted to show you something I made for my son's teacher.  Tomorrow is his last day of kindergarten and I couldn't be more proud and more sad at the same time.  Today we are heading to his class because the kids are putting on a performance for us parents.  I can't wait but I know I am going to be sobbing.  Tomorrow all the kindergartners will be doing a short program for the parents.  For some reason they do not do a graduation ceremony here so we will just have to enjoy the program  :)
Anyway, I found this cute gift set at wal-mart and that it would be fun for his teacher.  Something to help her relax and enjoy her summer vacation without a classroom full of loud kids.
I wanted to do something a little more special though.  I took the wrapping off and used them as templates to make my own.  I used paper that was on my table so I am not sure of the color or company it comes from.
From there I used some lined paper I got from making memories vintage findings.
On the top I just added the Thank you sentiment from a stamp set I bought at Joann's, Inkadinkado.  The flower is chloe's closet and the button is PTI.  The ribbon I had in my laundry room and says
"explore" I thought it was suiting.
The bottom is the same paper and then I just took some new leaf dmc floss wrapped it around the bottom and then tied a PTI button to it.  That's it, pretty simple.
I have on more thing I am doing for my son's teacher that I has to be done tomorrow so I can give it to her when I go to the program, of course, he starts school in the morning tomorrow so that cuts down my time to get everything done.
Thanks for stopping by!!!
