Great friends

Hello everyone!!!  I do have something crafty to show you but I don't have time to edit the pictures and post it here.  I did want to come on and say that everything is okay and I am doing well.  I feel so much better now that I have been able to do some crafting.  It really does make things go a lot smoother and easier in my house.
I did want to say a big thank you to a great blogger friend.  Her name is Lorie and she was so kind to make a card and send it to me in celebration of our new baby arriving in Feb or late Jan.  I love her work and she truly is one of the nice ones out there still.  So, thank you Lorie for thinking of me and my family and taking the time to send this to us.  You truly are sweet.  If you want to see the card you can check out it out on her blog here.
I also wanted to share a cute and funny story that happened a few days ago.  I am in my second trimester but still haven't been able to regain my energy or desires to get things done around the house.  So I have been spending a lot of time relaxing in front of the TV.  Yeah, I know lazy but that is what I do a lot of.  My oldest son just finished up his homework and wanted to relax with me and watch TV.  He was very cuddly that day and decided to rest his head on my belly (not so that he was laying directly on it but enough).  Next thing I know I felt what was more thank likely a punch because of the side it came from.  I wondered if my son had felt it but wasn't sure.  I look at him and he starts to pick his head up and looked at me with this crazy look.  I knew instantly that he felt it and couldn't believe it.  I think he was afraid of my stomach for a while after that.  He is still excited about the baby though.
Well, that is about it for today.  I will be showing you some more crafty stuff soon I hope.  I want to get it done tomorrow but I am not going to promise but then it usually doesn't happen.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Whimsy Monday

What a weekend it was.  I hope you all had a great weekend.  It was fun on Saturday since I go to hang out with my mom, grandma, and father.  My mom and I got to go into town again and do some shopping.  It is always fun to do some shopping with my mom even if it is just everyday stuff that I need.  The only thing that would have made it better is if my sister and her family could have visited with us too.
Today as promised I have my newest project for Whimsy challenge blog.  This week we are asking you to create a project using eyelets.  Remember to enter you do NOT need to have a whimsy stamp.  I do want to mention though that Whimsy does have 2 digital stamps you can try out.  One is to help a young lady who was injured and the proceeds are going to help her family pay the medical bills.
For my project I decided to make a tag card for a double baby shower I get to attend this coming Wednesday.  The babies are already born and two precious little boys.  I hope their mom's like the cards.

No eye candy but good news

I am not sure how many of you guys follow my mom's blog.  She has some awesome news to share with everyone and I couldn't be more excited and pleased that she was able to make this great accomplishment.  Plus, now we get to work together as well.  How fun is that?

I do hope to have something soon for you but again it turned out to be a crazy week I wasn't expecting.  If nothing else I will have something for you on Monday as it is another Whimsy challenge for me.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Anya Birthday

Happy Friday everyone!!!  We made it to another weekend.  How rewarding is that, right?
I am finally getting to the card that I made for my step-niece.  Her birthday is the same day as my younger sisters birthday, September 6th.  The sad thing is that I am not sure how old she is.  I have only had the priviledge of meeting her and her sister, her mother too for that matter, once.  That was when my brother married his wife and became their step-dad.

I don't have a whole lot of time to chat as my boys are fighting over nothing as usual, my youngest still needs a bath and I need to get my oldest ready for school.  Oh, how I love the mornings around here.
If you have any questions about this card please feel free to email me with questions or leave a comment with your question in it.

Wrong Again

I really need to learn not to say what I am going to show you when. Like I mentioned yesterday I was planning on showing you a card I made for my step-niece. Her birthday was the 6th of September. I am behind or what?

This is what happened. I went to talk to my husband yesterday and he informed me that there was something special going on on the base today. I may have or not have told you that we had something special happen last Friday as well. As you may know, we live on Edwards Air Force Base. The space shuttle landed here last Friday and we got to go out and see it land. That was an awesome experience and I was all giddy about it. I didn't bring my camera though. I assumed that since we were going to be on the runway that we wouldn't be able to take pictures. Much to my dismay there were people with cameras and video cameras taking pictures of the landing.

Yesterday when I talked to my husband he said that the base was doing a viewing of the space shuttle today from 9am until 1pm. Not only that but we also found out that my husband was going to get the leave that he requested. He is off today and tomorrow.

This morning we got up, ready, and headed out to the meeting place to take a bus where the shuttle is housed. It was the boys first bus ride ever so that was interesting.

It was a long wait to get on a bus and a bit of a ride to get to where the shuttle is but it was so neat. I was a little disappointed to because I thought the shuttle was going to be out of the "cage" that it is in while here getting ready for the flight back to Florida. This way we would be able to see the shuttle nose and all, not the case though. It was nice though because my oldest was able to go with us as well and we got back just in time to take him to school. What an exciting day for him, huh?

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy:

Ultrasound

I am going to do a selfish post today and then hopefully I can show you the card I made for my step-niece tomorrow.

As I said yesterday, my ultrasound appointment was yesterday afternoon. I was so excited to see my baby, for the last time on monitor. Now I have to wait until it is born to see it face to face. I cannot wait for that moment but then again I want this whole process to go slow as well since it will be my last time experiencing all of it.

It went smoothly, except for my boys being very rambunctious before, after and during. They thought it was "so cool" to see the baby. My oldest comes up with some of the craziest things nowadays. I love it. They are both so very excited always wanting to hug my belly or kiss my belly or talk to the baby. I swear, maybe this baby will ending up being late because it is getting a good dose of the kind of family it will be born into :D

The baby is gorgeous and healthy and kept wanting to stare at us the whole time. I had to lay on my side to be able to get a good profile. Absolutely precious. I was able to see all the feet and hands and very good views of the bones in the hands and feet. That surprised me because I don't remember my boys' ultrasound's being so clear with the hand and feet bones.

The ultrasound tech even gave us an adorable picture of the babies feet. I love it. To me, even seeing it in ultrasound it is the most precious thing in the world. I have to say that my husband and I make adorable children :D But I am sure everyone says that.

I was hoping that my baby would be uncooperative and not show anyone the gender but with just a bit of coaxing from the ultrasound tech my husband got to find out what the gender is. She got a picture, put the gender on the picture and printed it out for my husband to see. So he knows and even with a bunch of trying to figure it out I still do not know. I have my suspicions but they are only suspicions.

In case you want to see here they are.

The first picture is the one of the feet I told you about.

The second is the profile that took some effort to get.

The third is of the baby looking at us. The legs are curled up in all the pictures and I am sure the last one shows the baby's hand up against its ear.

Accordions

Hello everyone!!! Today is the day. This afternoon I will be seeing my baby for the last time on TV. I won't see it again until the day I give birth and see it's precious face looking up at me too. I am so excited and kinda nervous too. I have been feeling movements lately so that is reassuring but still it is nothing like seeing the baby on the monitor. I can't believe we are just about half way there. Actually, I say half way because if this baby is anything like my boys than it will be early. My oldest son was 8 days early and my youngest was 5 days early. We shall see what happens with this one though. I am just glad that January and February have beautiful birthstones. I am going to have one colorful mother's ring someday.

So today I am finally showing you the project I made with my mom while my parents were here helping with truck repairs.

It is an accordion folder that my mom found the instructions too here and it is so easy and fun to make. My mom had the idea of putting stamps in it. It was actually a perfect idea for me because I had quite a bit of small stamp sets that didn't really have a home in my craft area. As you may see in the pictures, I have already filled up this accordion file folder. I guess you can always make the dimensions a little different to suit your needs. I might have to do that because I have some more stamps that are just laying on my desk.

I made the outside design pretty simple since it was just for me. The button I colored with a copic marker to match the rest of the project and the green is a brad I used to hold the file folder closed. You are supposed to use a window punch but I don't own one and my mom said when she tried to use hers it wasn't strong enough to get through the cardboard we used for the front and back. My mom used a magnet to keep hers closed and I love it. I so need to get me some magnets. They make a project so much easier (I think), I have never used them before.

Well, I think that is about it for today. I hope to be back again tomorrow but no more promising, who knows what is going to happen day to day anymore.

Monday means Whimsy

Happy Monday everyone!!! This is going to be a quick post as I have a busy day ahead of me. First an appointment in a few minutes and then dentist appointments for my boys and then maybe a bit to relax. Tomorrow I have another OB appointment. This is the BIG ultrasound appointment so if you are lucky enough to know my husband you could possibly convince (apparently I spelled this wrong but even the spellcheck doesn't have the correct spelling) him to tell you what the gender of our baby is. I am secretly hoping that the baby is shy and won't even let him know. Hehehe, I am terrible, I know.

Well, today is Monday and we all know what that means, right? It is another Whimsy blog challenge. This week we are asking you to use your favorite fall colors. I know my card is not quite what most people think about when they think of fall colors but I tried to go with my gut on this one. When I think of fall I think of the colors changing first. The beautiful greens turning to yellow and orange first. I just love it.
The border punch as made using one of my mom's punches that she bought while visiting last weekend. She was testing it and it was just sitting on my desk when I sat down to make this card and had to use it.

We also have some big news over at the Whimsy blog challenge. There have been a few changes so we have two openings on our design team. If you are interested we will be looking at those who enter the next 2 weeks challenges. All you have to do is enter and then type "DT" next to your name when you enter on the blog. Good luck to all. There really is a great bunch of ladies.

Remember those, this design team is for the challenges not for the stamps. You will be responsible for participating in the weekly challenges and using Whimsy stamps. Don't worry if you don't have any stamps now Denise makes it very easy to add them to your collection.

Lest we never forget

Good Friday everyone!!!

I had planned on showing you a project that I made with my mom this past weekend. But then I realized that there is more about today than a project I made. I love the project and can't wait to show you but there is something bigger than it and me to talk about today.

In case you haven't noticed the date...today is September 11th. Today marks the 8th anniversary of the shake in our faith of safety. This country experienced something most of us thought we would never see. Our beloved country was attacked on our soil.

What those people didn't expect is that this country grew stronger and closer together because of what they did to try and separate us. I pray that we can get back to that faith and closeness in each other again soon.

Thank you to all the fire fighters, policemen, servicemen, and all those that helped in bringing the people to justice and those in danger to safety. May the lives of those lost that day never be forgotten.

God Bless the United States of America!!!

Birthday

Happy Thursday all!!! I am so glad that the week is coming to a close. It has been a hectic short week but seems to be flying by as well. I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. I do have to say that I am so grateful that my husband has a very kind and thoughtful co-worker. Thanks to her offering a ride to my husband today and last night I was able to get dinner going so we didn't have too late of a dinner and I was able to get a little extra sleep this morning and so did, well, one of our boys. The other seems to think it is fun to wake up early in the morning.

This card is already quite late and I still need to make another for my step-niece that had a birthday on the same day. I made this card for my younger sister. As we got older her and I have grown really close and very good friends. I go to her for some things that I may have questions about. It might have something to do with surviving a horrible car accident together but I think that only solidified our friendship. We were becoming good friends before that.

Since she works and doesn't have time to read my blog I am going to share with you her age. Which is kinda bad for me because she is my younger sister but I am pretty sure I have shared my age with you all anyway. Besides, age is just a number, right? My wonderful, hard working sister is a mother of 3 precious children, one of which I still need to meet and will be turning one when I have my newest baby, and a wife to a good man. She turned 29 on the 6th of this month and I just can't believe how the time has gone.

The tree stamp I used I just had to get when I saw it at Michael's during my shopping trip with my mom. I have seen several images like this and just love them. Since it was only 1.49 I just couldn't pass it up. It was my mom's idea to add the rhinestones where the flowers are and I just love how it looks. The circle is a coaster that I used my nestabilities to cut out the center to make a type of border for the tree image.

My sisters favorite color is green so I knew I had to add that color in the card and since tree bark is brown I wanted to use that as an accent color. But I wanted to try one more color and decided on...shoot, I am not sure if it is Hibiscus burst or melon berry. I think melon berry but not sure. I didn't like the color combo after putting it all together but now it is growing on me and I hope she likes it.

First of all, is anyone else having issues with blogger or is it just me? It seems that I have to upload the pictures before I type any of the message. I don't know how many times I have typed a post before I figure things out.

It is still crazy around here. I thought I was going to have to walk my son to school today. Hubby got an early call into work today. I have been up since about a quarter to 5 this morning (minus a short nap). Since we only have one vehicle I was going to have to walk my oldest son to school and that is about an hour round trip in 90+ degree weather. I was so not looking forward to it. Thank heavens my husband is able to get away from work long enough to take our son to school.

Today I am going to show you a lovely necklace I made with my mom. Can you believe it? This is a projec that Michael's was doing for Mother's Day. It was a little more intricate than I thought it was going to be. Definitely too intricate for my two boys to do. I was able to get the supplies from the store and planned to help them make them at home. That never happened.

Since my mom was in town this weekend I figured we could make them the way we wanted to. This way we would have Mother/Daughter matching necklaces. It was really fun and I think they turned out awesome. We even have a few beads left over to make a matching bracelet with. The only thing we have to do is get some string.

Scrapbooking

Hello everyon!!! I have written this post 3 times now and it seems my computer doesn't like it. I am going to keep this short for you. That way you don't have as much to read as well.

This is the first scrapbook page I have done in a long time. I am still not happy with how I do scrapbook pages but I keep doing it so that my boys will always have something to remind them of when they were young. Something they can show their kids and grandkids about their lives. I hope that like their books as much I have had making them.

The Explanation

Okay I am finally back but I don't know for how long so I hope I can get this post written quickly. I am not going to go into detail about all the personal stuff that has been going on in my life. I am sure it will bore you more than my lack of posting has. Just know that things are okay but not great. I guess that is how life is though. We have the good and bad and right now I am experiencing both all at the same time.

About the card I posted yesterday. It was for another wonderful Whimsy Stamp Challenge. I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful group of ladies and to be connected with such a great stamp company. I have said it before and I will say it again. Denise (the owner) and customer service is impeccable. I just can't believe how quickly you receive your orders and how nice Denise is.

So, the challenge over at Whimsy Stamp Challenge Blog this week is to create something that has texture. You can use embossing, felt, flock, etc. I had fun with this one. My little guy, the seal, was already colored and I couldn't help but use this cutie. I colored him in with copic markers and used my PTI spring rain to rub around the edges to give him the "in water" look.

The cardstock was either scrap or PTI cardstock. I used my cuttlebug to do some embossing on the blue cardstock and the spring rain to make the paper look wet. On the cardbase I used PTI's polka dot basics and used metallic embossing powder. The intent was to make it look like bubbles on the paper (remember we are in the water). I was hoping to use some kaleidoscope embossing powder but I either misplaced it or am out so I will have to get some more of that for sure.

I found my rope and thought that fit perfectly for the theme of this card. I actually bought it at our local BX (base exchange) in the tool section. I did tie a piece of ribbon around it to girly it up a little and the blue button just matched perfectly so I gave it some extra texture and a nice look to the card. I love how this card turned out and can you believe I used my own layout. I was actually planning this in my head while I was asleep one night. It wasn't exactly how I planned because I accidentally cut the paper the wrong size but I love how it works.

I actually got my son's first day of kindergarten scrapbook page done. I am so not very good at scrapbooking but I continue to do it because I want my boys to have a book of memories to share with their families some day. I look forward to making a new book for my little one coming next year.

The next two weeks might be even more sporadic for me as my husband has a busy schedule and then is taking a few days off of work to get some much needed things done around the house. I will try to get some things scheduled so it isn't as bad as it could be.

On another note, I do plan on putting all the Design team members for the challenges on my side bar. Please check back later today (hopefully) with a list and link to all the great ladies who participate in the fun challenges every week.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

So behind

Just a picture for now. I will be back later with more of an explanation.
