Great friends
I did want to say a big thank you to a great blogger friend. Her name is Lorie and she was so kind to make a card and send it to me in celebration of our new baby arriving in Feb or late Jan. I love her work and she truly is one of the nice ones out there still. So, thank you Lorie for thinking of me and my family and taking the time to send this to us. You truly are sweet. If you want to see the card you can check out it out on her blog here.
I also wanted to share a cute and funny story that happened a few days ago. I am in my second trimester but still haven't been able to regain my energy or desires to get things done around the house. So I have been spending a lot of time relaxing in front of the TV. Yeah, I know lazy but that is what I do a lot of. My oldest son just finished up his homework and wanted to relax with me and watch TV. He was very cuddly that day and decided to rest his head on my belly (not so that he was laying directly on it but enough). Next thing I know I felt what was more thank likely a punch because of the side it came from. I wondered if my son had felt it but wasn't sure. I look at him and he starts to pick his head up and looked at me with this crazy look. I knew instantly that he felt it and couldn't believe it. I think he was afraid of my stomach for a while after that. He is still excited about the baby though.
Well, that is about it for today. I will be showing you some more crafty stuff soon I hope. I want to get it done tomorrow but I am not going to promise but then it usually doesn't happen.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Whimsy Monday
Today as promised I have my newest project for Whimsy challenge blog. This week we are asking you to create a project using eyelets. Remember to enter you do NOT need to have a whimsy stamp. I do want to mention though that Whimsy does have 2 digital stamps you can try out. One is to help a young lady who was injured and the proceeds are going to help her family pay the medical bills.

No eye candy but good news
I do hope to have something soon for you but again it turned out to be a crazy week I wasn't expecting. If nothing else I will have something for you on Monday as it is another Whimsy challenge for me.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Anya Birthday
I am finally getting to the card that I made for my step-niece. Her birthday is the same day as my younger sisters birthday, September 6th. The sad thing is that I am not sure how old she is. I have only had the priviledge of meeting her and her sister, her mother too for that matter, once. That was when my brother married his wife and became their step-dad.

Accordions
So today I am finally showing you the project I made with my mom while my parents were here helping with truck repairs.
It is an accordion folder that my mom found the instructions too here and it is so easy and fun to make. My mom had the idea of putting stamps in it. It was actually a perfect idea for me because I had quite a bit of small stamp sets that didn't really have a home in my craft area. As you may see in the pictures, I have already filled up this accordion file folder. I guess you can always make the dimensions a little different to suit your needs. I might have to do that because I have some more stamps that are just laying on my desk.
I made the outside design pretty simple since it was just for me. The button I colored with a copic marker to match the rest of the project and the green is a brad I used to hold the file folder closed. You are supposed to use a window punch but I don't own one and my mom said when she tried to use hers it wasn't strong enough to get through the cardboard we used for the front and back. My mom used a magnet to keep hers closed and I love it. I so need to get me some magnets. They make a project so much easier (I think), I have never used them before.
Well, I think that is about it for today. I hope to be back again tomorrow but no more promising, who knows what is going to happen day to day anymore.

Monday means Whimsy
Well, today is Monday and we all know what that means, right? It is another Whimsy blog challenge. This week we are asking you to use your favorite fall colors. I know my card is not quite what most people think about when they think of fall colors but I tried to go with my gut on this one. When I think of fall I think of the colors changing first. The beautiful greens turning to yellow and orange first. I just love it.
The border punch as made using one of my mom's punches that she bought while visiting last weekend. She was testing it and it was just sitting on my desk when I sat down to make this card and had to use it.
We also have some big news over at the Whimsy blog challenge. There have been a few changes so we have two openings on our design team. If you are interested we will be looking at those who enter the next 2 weeks challenges. All you have to do is enter and then type "DT" next to your name when you enter on the blog. Good luck to all. There really is a great bunch of ladies.
Remember those, this design team is for the challenges not for the stamps. You will be responsible for participating in the weekly challenges and using Whimsy stamps. Don't worry if you don't have any stamps now Denise makes it very easy to add them to your collection.

Lest we never forget
Good Friday everyone!!!
I had planned on showing you a project that I made with my mom this past weekend. But then I realized that there is more about today than a project I made. I love the project and can't wait to show you but there is something bigger than it and me to talk about today.
In case you haven't noticed the date...today is September 11th. Today marks the 8th anniversary of the shake in our faith of safety. This country experienced something most of us thought we would never see. Our beloved country was attacked on our soil.
What those people didn't expect is that this country grew stronger and closer together because of what they did to try and separate us. I pray that we can get back to that faith and closeness in each other again soon.
Thank you to all the fire fighters, policemen, servicemen, and all those that helped in bringing the people to justice and those in danger to safety. May the lives of those lost that day never be forgotten.
God Bless the United States of America!!!

Birthday
Wednesday, September 9, 2009
It is still crazy around here. I thought I was going to have to walk my son to school today. Hubby got an early call into work today. I have been up since about a quarter to 5 this morning (minus a short nap). Since we only have one vehicle I was going to have to walk my oldest son to school and that is about an hour round trip in 90+ degree weather. I was so not looking forward to it. Thank heavens my husband is able to get away from work long enough to take our son to school.
Today I am going to show you a lovely necklace I made with my mom. Can you believe it? This is a projec that Michael's was doing for Mother's Day. It was a little more intricate than I thought it was going to be. Definitely too intricate for my two boys to do. I was able to get the supplies from the store and planned to help them make them at home. That never happened.
Since my mom was in town this weekend I figured we could make them the way we wanted to. This way we would have Mother/Daughter matching necklaces. It was really fun and I think they turned out awesome. We even have a few beads left over to make a matching bracelet with. The only thing we have to do is get some string.

Scrapbooking
Hello everyon!!! I have written this post 3 times now and it seems my computer doesn't like it. I am going to keep this short for you. That way you don't have as much to read as well.
This is the first scrapbook page I have done in a long time. I am still not happy with how I do scrapbook pages but I keep doing it so that my boys will always have something to remind them of when they were young. Something they can show their kids and grandkids about their lives. I hope that like their books as much I have had making them.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

The Explanation
Okay I am finally back but I don't know for how long so I hope I can get this post written quickly. I am not going to go into detail about all the personal stuff that has been going on in my life. I am sure it will bore you more than my lack of posting has. Just know that things are okay but not great. I guess that is how life is though. We have the good and bad and right now I am experiencing both all at the same time.
About the card I posted yesterday. It was for another wonderful Whimsy Stamp Challenge. I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful group of ladies and to be connected with such a great stamp company. I have said it before and I will say it again. Denise (the owner) and customer service is impeccable. I just can't believe how quickly you receive your orders and how nice Denise is.
So, the challenge over at Whimsy Stamp Challenge Blog this week is to create something that has texture. You can use embossing, felt, flock, etc. I had fun with this one. My little guy, the seal, was already colored and I couldn't help but use this cutie. I colored him in with copic markers and used my PTI spring rain to rub around the edges to give him the "in water" look.
The cardstock was either scrap or PTI cardstock. I used my cuttlebug to do some embossing on the blue cardstock and the spring rain to make the paper look wet. On the cardbase I used PTI's polka dot basics and used metallic embossing powder. The intent was to make it look like bubbles on the paper (remember we are in the water). I was hoping to use some kaleidoscope embossing powder but I either misplaced it or am out so I will have to get some more of that for sure.
I found my rope and thought that fit perfectly for the theme of this card. I actually bought it at our local BX (base exchange) in the tool section. I did tie a piece of ribbon around it to girly it up a little and the blue button just matched perfectly so I gave it some extra texture and a nice look to the card. I love how this card turned out and can you believe I used my own layout. I was actually planning this in my head while I was asleep one night. It wasn't exactly how I planned because I accidentally cut the paper the wrong size but I love how it works.
I actually got my son's first day of kindergarten scrapbook page done. I am so not very good at scrapbooking but I continue to do it because I want my boys to have a book of memories to share with their families some day. I look forward to making a new book for my little one coming next year.
The next two weeks might be even more sporadic for me as my husband has a busy schedule and then is taking a few days off of work to get some much needed things done around the house. I will try to get some things scheduled so it isn't as bad as it could be.
On another note, I do plan on putting all the Design team members for the challenges on my side bar. Please check back later today (hopefully) with a list and link to all the great ladies who participate in the fun challenges every week.
Thanks for stopping by!!!
