CPS

Happy Friday!!! Wooohooo!!! I love Fridays because that means the weekend is just around the corner and who doesn't love the weekends, right?

Anyone got any plans for this weekend and "the big game"? Nothing special for us. We are going to hang close to home again this weekend. It is so nice to do that once in a while. Just relax, get a few things done. No rushing from store to store, etc. I love it, sometimes.

On Sunday we have church but will be back in time to have my sister and her family over for a "super bowl bash". I put that in quotes because I think it is going to be more of a get together than a super bowl party. Really, we can all dream that the Cardinals are going to kick some Steeler hiney but I don't foresee that happening. Sometimes I just like making up excuses to get together, is that just me?

The card, right? My mom got me going to a new blog lately. It is Melissa Phillips from PTI. She does lovely work and I really wish I can duplicate her style it is just so lovely. She sent me to CPS (Card Positioning S???) I am not sure what the S stands for but I could go look it up should you want to know (my computer still isn't letting me link. I will have to figure that out later). They had a great sketch and since my mojo just isn't here anymore I thought it would be a great jumping off point, right? Wrong. I still didn't get the look I was hoping for. I was trying to duplicate Melissa but it just didn't work. This is what I came up with. It was more complicated than it looks. I am pleased with it but not happy. So, I will leave you with that. Again, if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.

My missing post

So sorry to have missed you guys yesterday. Trust me I would have rather been here in blog land there where I was. I don't know if I mentioned here before but I suffer from migraines. I have been lucky and haven't had any BAD migraines in a while. That is until yesterday. I tried doing everything I normally do. I had so many things to do yesterday that I had to get out no matter what. But as the day wore on it got worse and worse. It was so bad that I actually got sick, several times. Now that is very unusual for me. I very, very seldom get that ill. It just wasn't fun.

The worst part of it was, I have a friend with two adorable little girls and pregnant with her 3rd. I was asked to help her with bedtime because she is on bed rest. No problem, right? Well, it wasn't until after we get done putting the girls in their beds that I get this sudden urge to get sick, not great. I tried to hold it off until I could get home but no such luck. How embarrassing. It is one thing to get sick at home, which I don't even like to do that but to get sick at a friends house, ugh.

Anyway, you guys didn't come here to hear more of my woes. I had started a card yesterday and finally got to finish it today. It is probably a good thing I didn't get it done yesterday because I think I made it just a little better than it would have been yesterday.

I am still not completely happy with it but thanks to Lauren Meader and her copic tutorial I do like my coloring a little bit better on this one.

I started again with Gina K. Whimsical Autumn. The apple bunch is just adorable and I had to use it.

The kraft paper is from SU! and the blue and red are just extras I had in my stash box. I took some other kraft and stamped on it with PTI polka dot basics using SU! brilliant blue ink and PTI pure poppy. This card actually ended up being somewhat of a patriot card. Not what I intended. Just went with the colors in my striped PP.

The bridal flowers were colored with the same ink including PTI vintage cream. The green was colored with copic markers to look like leaves. Gotta love Lauren and her ability to inspire.

That is about it. I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

P.S. For some reason my computer is not letting me link anything. So if you want to find out where Lauren Meader's blog is just follow the think in my "Blogs I read daily" list.

Alzheimer's card...

Happy Monday All!!! I hope Monday is treating you well so far. It is so far a good Monday for me. I hope I can keep up the same feeling throughout the day. It does help that we have a lovely sunny day today.

The other day I was trying to get my stamps and craft table in order. It is a terrible mess and I would be so ashamed if any of you saw it. While trying to reorganize my stamps I cam across a stamp set that I totally forgot I even had. And I received the set before Christmas. I am so horrible.

When I saw this new set I knew I had to use it right away to show it off. Well, this is the card I ended up making with it. I had planned on making a long card because I have seen so many wonderful cards lately using that size. But I just couldn't make it work. When I started this card I had no idea what I was going to do so I just went one step at a time.

I found some scrap PTI summer sunrise cardstock that would work so well with the pumpkin image. So I started with that. Found a great size of green cardstock that worked so well.

The summer sunrise looked so plain though I had to pull out my PTI guide lines stamp set and add some design to the paper. It wasn't what I expected to make but it worked for me.

The pumpkin was colored using prismacolor pencils (I would have used copics but I don't have orange).

From there I knew the green strip needed something else so I took my crystal bling and added three to add just a little something.

The flowers just seemed to fit as well. I just grabbed some that seemed to work and glued them on. None of them are brand names, just something I picked up at Michael's or Joann's, as well as the brads. Actually, that might be wrong. Some of those brads could be Queen & Co.

The sentiment is from the same set the pumpkin came from. I guess I didn't say what set that is, right? I got it from Gina K. and it is called "Whimsical Autumn" and all the proceeds go to Alzheimer's research.

I know we are way passed the fall that this card seems to be inspired from but when I think of thanks, I think pumpkins and thanksgiving. It just seems to fit. Plus, the name of the stamp set says Autumn, just had to do it. This isn't my usual type of card but I am very fond of it. Plus, I am sure that I am going to have an excuse to use this card soon. There always seems to be a reason to send a thank you card out.

More Timeless Templates

First off, Happy Friday!!!

I am so in love with Lauren Meader's Timeless Templates you can order from PaperTrey Ink. They truly are so easy to use. This is the "desktop organizer" template. It was made to put notecards in. I was going to do that but saw all the cool ideas for putting candy in them. I didn't have any candy that would work for this. I scrummaged my cupboards and came across some hot cocoa packets and thought that would be a great idea.

What a way for someone to feel better if they are blue, sick, or just down for some reason or another.

The paper is PTI sweet blush. The PP is the same I used for the "Peanut" card yesterday.

I can't think of what else. The flower and ribbon are from Michael's or Joann's.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

More Peanut

Hello All!!! I have been getting to this kinda late. This has been one crazy week and will be until sometime tomorrow. I love Fridays though.

I would have had this up sooner but my oldest had his speech therapy today. I was concerned because on Tues. (he only has to go on Tues. and Thurs.) he didn't do what he was supposed to and didn't get his sticker reward. I worked with yesterday and made sure he understood that we were there for him to work and not to play around.

I was very happy to see him walk out with not one, but two stickers today. I guess even though it is more work and frustration for me, I need to make a point to sit with him and correct him when he mispronounces a word.

But you guys didn't come here to hear about my son's speech problems and my woes in working with him, right?

I splurged and got some goodies from Papertrey Ink. I keep hearing everyone talk about how great the Raspberry Fizz is and I just love the polka dot basics stamp set so I got those instead of the new stuff that came out.

I copied Geny Cassidy's idea of making your own a patterned paper with the single polka dots in the set and using a bunch of colors.

I took 3 of the polka dots at a time and stamped them several times on vintage cream cardstock using lavender moon, spring rain, and raspberry fizz ink. Those are 3 colors I haven't used very often and wanted to try them out. The lavender moon and spring rain are very soft and subtle and the raspberry fizz added a splash of color in it. I love it.

The ribbon is lavender moon and a $1 spool of blue I got at Michael's a while back.

I used "Peanut" again from Our Craft Lounge. He looks so much better than the last time I used him. I used Prismacolor pencils and baby oil to color him in this time. I really like the way it looked. I started out coloring him in with a black colored pencil since I don't have gray but then decided since I used blue in the dots that I would use blue for "Peanut" as well. I just love how it turned out (did I say that already?)
I forgot to mention the flowers. They are the bridal flowers from Michael's and the purple one is colored with a copic marker and I took vintage cream ink and rubbed it on the flower to mute the white of the flower.
Very easy and I really love how it turned out.

Birthday tree

Finally getting it on the computer. I am so sorry it took me longer than I thought to get back to this. I have so much going on now that it is just so crazy.

Friday is my older brothers birthday so I had to get him a card made. I am lacking some serious mojo right now and making some very simple cards. I am not completely happy with this one but it is what I did so I am sticking with it.

If you want details please feel free to email me with the questions.

Thanks for stopping by, as always!!!

Missy

Bear with me please...

Seriously, I do have a project to show you but I have had to spend the morning taking care of things around the house that has been neglected for way too long.
I hope to have a new post of in a few hours. I hope you come back then to see it.

Long Weekend...

Happy Monday all!!! Aren't Monday's so much better when they don't include work? I love that my husband has a government job and gets all the holidays off like this.
So, with that information I am not posting anything special. Just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful long weekend today. I hope that you are able to do something fun with the family. Ours will be nothing special. We stayed home Saturday to get a long list of things done that needed to be done around the house.
Today we get to make the trek "into town" to run some errands that we didn't do on Saturday. Gotta love it.
Take care and I will see you all tomorrow.

Our Craft Lounge

Happy Friday!!! We made it, wooohooo!!!

So, I mentioned a while ago that my mom, sister, niece, and I attended a class here in California where Marianne from Copic Markers led a make and take. At that time there was a sale on the new stamp company called "Our Craft Lounge" so I bought a adorable set (but they are all adorable). The set I bought featured Peanut the Elephant. Oh and by the way, all the images are hand drawn my Marianne.

Okay, so on to the card. My husband happened to mention to me that one of his co-workers mentioned he had a birthday last week but didn't tell anyone. Well, being a card marker I could not let someone go without making them a birthday card. I know it is already a week late but better late than never right.

Okay, so like I said my hubby is military so his co-worker is a "young" guy. I made the card assuming that he would take it home and throw it in the trash. I was shocked to find out that my hubby's co-worker thought it was great and was surprised to find out that I made it and left it on his desk.

Okay so for some details. I went simple and started by stamping "Peanut" on PTI white cardstock and colored him in with copic. Now, my supply of copics are small so I did what I can with him. I am not happy with the fact that I had to use so much ink to dull the "red" in his ears that it bled onto his ear but I was okay with it being that way for this purpose (again, i thought he was going to just throw it away anyway).

I used scrap paper for the rest, I can't remember the name of the colors of the rest of paper. The sentiment was cut out using a spellbinders dies and a coaster chipboard.

Inside, I stamped some balloon's and another sentiment from the set that says, "Hope your b-day doesn't blow" it was so cute and hubbies co-worker got a kick out of it.

P.S. I am sorry about the last few pictures being washed out. I have no idea what is going on

Another Sarah Kay

Happy Wednesday everyone!!! I hope that you had a great Tuesday. Mine was good. We had a little bit of a power struggle for a while but then Daddy came home for lunch, little one took a nap and my oldest and I got some time reading books, playing computer games, and playing out side working on writing letters and counting. It was very nice being able to spend some time outside "in my backyard". We never really spend time in the backyard and being able to sit at our table and throw the dog toy while my son plays on their outgrown play area. My hubby and I need to see about getting them something bigger for them that is cheap.

So, I actually had 2 Sarah Kay stamps and 2 thank you cards I needed to make. So after we put the boys to bed I sat down to make my second thank you card with my second Sarah Kay stamp. I decided to do a little more simple thing today. Since it is so simple I am going to forgo the details. As always though, if you have any questions please feel fre to ask. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you

Happy Tuesday!!! Wooohooo, I have made it to two posts in a row.

I mentioned before that I had some new stamps to play with, this is one of them. I just had to ink them up. I only got this one done because bending over my table was starting to hurt my back. But I have a couple "thank you" cards to make for a couple of lovely ladies in my ward that were very helpful when I didn't even ask them or knew that I needed their help.

I decided to use a Sarah Kay stamp made by Stampavie. She is called "Fanny's cuddle" and it is a clear stamp, stamps up wonderfully too.

I used vintage cream cardstock to stamp fanny on and for the card base. She was stamped in palette noir and colored using prismacolor pencils because I have very few copics that I could use to color her with.

I also used my clear glitter pen to add some glitter to her outfit and a yellow glitter pen to bling up her hair.

The patterned paper is from DCWVs Nana's nursery (girls) paper pack. The ribbon is PTIs berry blush stitched ribbon, that is also the same color I used to sponge the edges of the image.

The flower and cardboard button were just in my stash and I couldn't tell you what brand they are but I can tell you that the button was bought at Michael's a little while back in the $1 section. I hope you like it. I am very happy with it since it has been a while since I have made anything.

Happy Monday morning!!!

I am still not feeling 100% and I have no idea when that will happen. I did make it to church yesterday and it was just awesome seeing all the kids with their ears open and learning the gospel. I am just still so confused with what my job entails (I am been asked to be the Primary Presidency Secretary). I was not wanting to be in Primary because 2 hours of church are the only hours I get away from my kids but it is so great to because I get to learn with them and all the stuff I never got to learn when I was their age.

I was feeling great heading to church. I had almost 100% range of motion and almost no pain. That is until I got in the car. The 15 min. or so car ride to church was brutal and sitting in the pew for an hour was just horrific. I couldn't wait to get up and move. By the time I got home I had a heat wrap on my back. WOW!!! That worked wonders. By time dinner rolled around I was feeling somewhat normal again and was able to sit and have dinner with the family.

But all of that isn't the reason why I came on here. I am finally going to show you the "gifts" I made for my boys' teachers for the holidays and end of year celebration. Every year in Jan. the kids move up to the next class in church. My oldest was CTR 5 (kids turning 5 in that year) and now he is in CTR 6 (turning 6 this year). My youngest was in nursery last year and now that he is 3 he goes to Primary and in called a sunbeam.

So, for appreciation of the teachers my boys had last year in their Sunday schooling I made them a little gift. When I say little I mean little.

Here you go!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope to be able to play with my new stamps and give you something new to look at. Until then, have a great Monday!!!

Happy Friday and a quick update...

Wow!!! I am starting off 2009 great, right?
I hope you all had a great holiday season. Mine was wonderful but I think I mentioned a lot of that before.
I have some new stamps that I bought a while back that I haven't even been able to ink up yet and another I should be getting in the mail today. I am so excited to get back in the craft room and start creating again. I miss it terribly.
As for me. I was still in pretty bad shape on Sunday. I was very upset because I really wanted to go to church. Both my boys were starting a new class. My youngest actually graduated from Nursery and starting Primary this year. I was so excited for him. He was just getting used to nursery (when we first started back at church he would scream and cry for most of the time). I know he will do well in Primary because he has an awesome teacher AND his brother is already in Primary (he has wanted to follow his brother in Primary for a long time).
After feeling horrible still on Sunday I knew I better get in to see the doctor. I was able to make an appointment for the next day (which is pretty unheard of here). The doc asked me a bunch of questions gave me to drug prescriptions and sent me off to x-ray. He also put in a referral to have an MRI done (we are on a small base and only have a clinic here).
He figures the x-ray won't tell us anything since we are only seeing the bones. The medication makes me feel worse than I do dealing with the pain so I have stopped taking those since Tuesday.
As of right now the referral request to have an MRI done has been denied. I am hoping that it either gets fixed by the doctor or I don't have to go in at all.
Everyday I feel just a little bit better and can move around just a little bit more. Now, I still have to be very careful because if I try to do too much my back will make me pay for it.
I did that yesterday (Thursday) my oldest has speech and my husband has had a horrible schedule this week that we have hardly seen him ourselves.
I don't ask people for help and since I was feeling a bit better I packed my son in the car and headed to school so he can get his speech therapy. I was upset with everything so I decided to get food for me and my son at Burger King (every base has a Burger King) then I went to the store to get a couple of meaningless things. By the time I got home I was in pain.
For the record, if you are working and a kid does something and his parent is right next to him DON'T correct him. Stupid lady at BK corrected my son TWICE for doing nothing with me STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM ERRRRR!!!
Anyway, I won't go on with the other tedious things I did yesterday but I do have to say. The people in my ward are AWESOME!!!
Like I said before, I don't ask for help. But there are some people in my ward that even without asking seemed to know what I needed and helped me and my son tremendously. So, thank you to you ALL!!!
Like I said, I am feeling better so hopefully by Monday I will actually be able to put something crafty on here.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

No crafty stuff for a few days...

I don't usually post on the weekend but I wanted to give you all a heads up.
I have a very bad back, it all started 9 years ago when I was in a bad car accident. I made it worse when I played my nieces Wii games. We will be getting one soon as well but I don't think I am going to be able to use it as much as I thought. I am going to have to get the Wii Fit and see if that helps some.
Anyway, Thursday I noticed my back was very achy. I felt like someone had punched either side of my back for hours. But, that I am used to so wasn't terribly worried and went about my activities and errands.
I woke up Friday doing my daily duties since my hubby had to work. Again, nothing out of the ordinary, just a sore back and arm.
I got one son down for a nap and asked my oldest to clean up some of the messes they had made earlier that morning.
We had some of those pop-its that you throw and they make a popping noise. I offered one to my son to throw as a treat after picking up his mess. I told him he had to throw it outside but he wanted to throw it in my kitchen. I told him no and then watched him walk towards the kitchen (thinking he was putting away another toy) turns out I hear a pop. Yep, he deliberately disobeyed me.
This is where I show how bad of a mother I can be. When I heard the pop I yelled at my son and smacked his bottom and told him to go to his room. He didn't like that very much and threw a tantrum. I went to pick him up and physically take him to his room. That is when something popped (I think) in my back and I just dropped to the floor and couldn't even crawl. I had to have my son get me the phone and call my hubby at work to get me off the floor and into my bed.
Since then I have been basically bedridden with back pain. I haven't gone to the doctor. I will tell you why. My husband and I have been trying to have another baby. I am sure that the doctors will just want me to get doped up on pain killers and let it ease out. I don't think I am pregnant now but I don't want that in my system when I could end up pregnant. It sounds silly but I don't like taking any kind of heavy medication so this is just something I will suffer through until it eases up.
I am hoping I am doing better tomorrow (Sunday) as I have a new calling at church and will be working in the Primary with my boys and my youngest will be starting primary for the first time tomorrow. I don't want to miss my first day in a new job or my son's first day in primary.
Thankfully I have a wonderful husband that is willing to do everything I need him to do. He has been great and very helpful and is now at the commissary buying our groceries. I really got lucky to have found a man as wonderful as him. I will have something crafty for you as soon as I can get up and moving again.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

I hope you all had a great holiday season!!!

Wow!!! It has been a long time since I posted. I do have something crafty to show you. I made something simple for my boys Sunday School/Nursery teachers that I gave them on the last Sunday of the year. I can't believe it is over. Anyway, I do have something to show you but not today.
The holidays were crazy and fun. I realized that I really like the Wii system. I am so sore it isn't even funny. Who know that a video game could be so good for your body?!?!?!
We had family visiting us, my SIL, and my hubbies best friends since they were kids (but he is family to us). It was great having a full house and being able to have our special Italian Christmas Eve.
After the fun morning activities that the boys loved we went to my sisters house and celebrated the holiday with some of my family.
Not to mention we had quite a few birthdays in the mix. My youngest son actually just turned 3 on the 30th of Dec. so 2 days after Christmas we had the family over for a birthday celebration that turned out great.
It was so great!!! I just didn't make any time to do anything crafty. But, today is a new day and things will be returning back to normal. The family is gone :( and work begins again.
Hopefully things will be getting back into their routine and I can do some more crafting this year.
I hope you all had a wonderful, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year!!!
Thanks for stopping by!!!
